Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, the Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), exuded confidence as he declared that the club is destined to clinch the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.
This bold statement came on the heels of a thrilling encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, December 10th, where Asante Kotoko secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over their arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.
The pivotal moment in the season showcased Isaac Oppong’s crucial opening goal and Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala’s clinical brace, marking a significant turnaround for the team.
Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua confidently expressed, “Asante Kotoko is undoubtedly winning the Ghana Premier League this year and in 2024, after we return from our European tour, we will be back stronger than ever with a new exposure, style, and mindset,” Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua told Akoma FM.
Acknowledging the challenges faced in assembling a team with a blend of experienced and younger players, he emphasized that the current phase is foundational, paving the way for future success.
“We are currently assembling a team, and since were starting from scratch with a mix of experienced and younger players things were not going to go well,” he added.
Asante Kotoko is set to face Accra Great Olympics in their upcoming league game.
