Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko SC has announced the passing of the mother of its captain and defender, Samba O’Neil Ndongani, describing the news as a heartbreaking loss for the club family.
Kotoko extended its deepest sympathies to the Congolese centre-back and his relatives, pledging support and prayers as they navigate this period of mourning.
Since arriving in Ghana in 2024 from Rahimo FC, O’Neil has developed into a central figure for the Porcupine Warriors, earning the captain’s armband through his leadership qualities and commanding presence in defence.
The 2025/26 campaign has seen him make 22 league appearances, contributing four goals, in addition to four outings in the CAF Confederation Cup, where he scored once before Kotoko’s exit in the second preliminary round.
Overall, the centre-back has featured 56 times for Kotoko across all competitions, registering five goals and one assist, underlining his importance to the club’s backline.
