Asante Kotoko’s new signing Emmanuel Antwi is over the moon after helping the club win the inaugural Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Antwi, who joined the Porcupine Warriors recently, played a key role in midfield as Kotoko secured a 2-1 victory over Hearts of Oak to claim the title. The game was held to celebrate 30 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.
Taking to social media, Antwi expressed his excitement and gratitude for the love and support he received after the match.
“Democracy Cup won. Thank you for the love and support,” he posted on his social media account.
The visitors took an early lead through Justice Blay’s penalty, and they held onto their advantage at halftime.
However, Hearts of Oak equalized with a header from new signing Asamoah Boateng Afriyie after the break. Kotoko regained the lead when Peter Amidu capitalized on a defensive error by Hearts of Oak to secure a 2-1 victory.
Kotoko’s win has secured them a spot in the United States to face Major League Soccer side DC United at a date to be announced by the organizers.
