Asante Kotoko is owing its former CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah, outstanding salaries amounting to Gh¢200,000. This debt has accumulated over the three years that Nana Yaw Amponsah served as the club’s CEO.
The revelation was made by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during a meeting with club legends, supporters’ leadership, and other stakeholders at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, July 21, 2023.
Nana Yaw Amponsah’s tenure as CEO of Asante Kotoko came to an end earlier this month.
Additionally, it has been reported that Asante Kotoko is facing a total debt of Gh¢3 million, accumulated over the past three years.
During the meeting, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II mentioned that about Gh¢5 million would be required to settle the debt and address other financial obligations.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that the playing body of Asante Kotoko has not been paid for five months, but the issue is being addressed.
Presently, Asante Kotoko is without a permanent head coach following the sacking of Burkinabe trainer Seydou Zerbo in March of this year.
