Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim, expressed his excitement about the return of Prosper Narteh Ogum as the club’s coach.
Ogum previously led the Porcupines to their 24th Premier League title during the 2021/22 season but resigned before the start of the subsequent season. After a brief stint as an assistant coach to Annor Walker for the Black Satellites, he remained unattached to any club.
Unfortunately, Ogum’s successor, Seydou Zerbo, faced difficulties with the team and was eventually sacked midway through the season. This prompted the need for a new coach.
However, following the dissolution of the board and management of the club, Ogum has rejoined Asante Kotoko with the expectation of making amends for their disappointing 2022/23 campaign, during which they finished in fourth place.
The Porcupine Warriors also had underwhelming performances in other competitions, exiting the CAF Champions League in the first round and being eliminated from the FA Cup in the round of 32 after a narrow defeat to Aduana Stars.
As professionals, the players are committed to following the philosophy of any coach and working together to achieve success. Danlad emphasized that if they win the league, the credit will not solely go to the coach; the players will also be recognized for their contribution.
“We are professionals, so we will follow the philosophy anyone coach and work together in order for us to succeed. If we win the league, I’m not sure the coach will only be credited, we the players we will be hugely recognize”
“Being Ogum or any other coach, we are ready to work. For now, he has been appointed and we are happy for his return. Indeed, we know him because we’ve worked together before. We know his likes and the dislikes, so we will try to cope and perform well next season” he told Kessben FM
