Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Samuel Sarfo Duku, has emphatically stated that Ghana’s Black Stars will not be complete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup without players from the club.
The Porcupine Warriors, who currently sit at the top of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League standings, recently secured their place in the FA Cup semifinals. They achieved this after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over lower-tier side True Democracy at the Baba Yara Stadium.
As Ghana inches closer to securing qualification for the prestigious tournament set to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico next year, Sarfo Duku insists that Kotoko players deserve to be part of Otto Addo’s squad.
“There cannot be a Black Stars without an Asante Kotoko player for the 2026 World Cup,” he stated in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
“All our players deserve a call-up, and they should be there,” he added.
The Black Stars are currently leading Group I in the qualifiers with 15 points, having secured back-to-back victories over Chad and Madagascar in their Matchday 5 and 6 fixtures.
Looking ahead, Ghana’s national team will resume their qualification campaign in September, facing Chad and Mali in two crucial Matchday 7 and 8 encounters.
