Asante Kotoko have officially announced the signing of right-back Shayibu Abubakari on a three-year deal after he passed his medical checks.
The 21-year-old defender joins from Karela United and has also played for Real Tamale United. He briefly had a stint in the Czech Republic with top-flight side Mladá Boleslav.
Known for his speed and attacking style, Abubakari can also operate further up the field as a winger. His arrival will strengthen Kotoko’s options at right-back, especially with Lord Amoah currently in the role and Emmanuel Kotei still recovering from an ACL injury.
Sharing his excitement after sealing the move, Abubakari told the club’s media team:
“I’m still young, and I see this move as a great chance to grow in my career. Kotoko offers the perfect environment to develop, and I’m eager to learn, especially from players like Lord Amoah. I’m ready to give my all and fight for this badge every day.”
