Asante Kotoko forward Steven Mukwala attributes his second goal in their recent match against Hearts of Oak to sheer instinct.
Mukwala scored twice, helping the Porcupine Warriors deepen the woes of the Phobians during Sunday’s clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Matchday 31.
The Ugandan striker showcased his prowess by connecting with a long ball, maintaining his composure under intense pressure to net his first goal.
For his second goal, Mukwala expertly maneuvered the ball onto his right foot during a counterattack, driving it low into the bottom left corner of the net.
Reflecting on his performance in a post-game interview, Mukwala credited his team for the victory and analyzed his goals, which were scored in the eighth and 92nd minutes.
“That was a tactical approach. With two Hearts players marking me, I had to create space to evade their awareness of my position,” he explained.
“As for the second goal, it was purely instinctive. I spotted an approaching defender, so I adjusted my speed accordingly, leading to the goal,” he elaborated.
This victory marks Asante Kotoko’s second win over Hearts of Oak this season, with Mukwala also scoring in their previous encounter, a thrilling 3-2 win for the Porcupine Warriors.
Currently sitting ninth in the league standings with 43 points, Asante Kotoko will next face Great Olympics in Matchday 32 at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend.
