Asisat Oshoala has signed a new two-year deal at Barcelona, keeping her at the Catalan club until 2024.

The 27-year-old striker is the top scorer in the Primera Division this season, netting 19 goals in 16 league appearances, and was an integral part of Barcelona’s 2020/21 treble-winning team.

Oshoala is the third Barcelona player to sign a new two-year deal with the club this week, following the announcements of defenders Marta Torrejon and Mapi Leon also committing their future to the Catalan giants until 2024.

“I am just happy to be in the best team in the world,” Oshoala told Barcelona’s official club website. “It’s not just about their football, you look off the pitch, and it’s about how they treat footballers to help keep improving.

“I am a striker and I want to keep scoring more goals. I love it. The goal is to keep growing and to be happy. ”

Oshoala joined Barcelona from Chinese outfit Dalian in January 2019, initially on loan, before making the move permanent the following May.

The Nigerian international signed a three-year deal with the club, which had been poised to expire this summer prior to her agreeing terms on her new two-year contract.

During her three years with Barcelona, Oshoala has netted 80 goals in 101 appearances, making her the sixth highest goalscorer in the club’s history.

The four-time Africa Footballer of the Year scored four goals in the 2020/21 Champions League, and came off the bench in the final as Barcelona beat Chelsea 4-0 to be crowned champions of Europe for the first time.
