Aston Villa may look to sign 21-year-old Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku from EFL Championship outfit Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Leicester City winger has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.

The Villans have identified the African attacker as a long-term replacement for Leon Bailey amid the 28-year-old Jamaican winger’s links with AS Roma. Unai Emery feels the youngster will add pace, power, and depth to the Aston Villa attack in the 2025/26 season.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and his time in England so far

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has made considerable progress since joining Leicester City from Sporting CP. The Foxes initially signed the 21-year-old on loan in August 2023 before completing a permanent move last summer. The young winger has been a standout performer for Leicester City, and he was impressive during a dreadful campaign that ended in relegation.

The Ghanaian international has turned out over 50 times thus far for Leicester City while chipping in with seven goals and 15 assists. Meanwhile, Issahaku’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs. Aston Villa will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the cards?

Aston Villa’s interest in Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is understandable. The Villans have been combing the market for wide attackers since failing to complete permanent deals for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio when the summer transfer window opened. While talks to re-sign Asensio have advanced, Leon Bailey faces an uncertain future at Aston Villa amid his links with AS Roma.

Additionally, Aston Villa will part ways with Jacob Ramsey this week, with the English utility man on the verge of joining Newcastle United in a deal worth £40 million. So, the West Midlands club must sign a wide attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down, with the Leicester City winger emerging as a viable target.

The 21-year-old Ghanaian international has previously been a target for Everton, and Unai Emery believes he will add pace, power, and depth to the Aston Villa attack. However, the move will come to light if Bailey joins AS Roma.
