The National Sports Authority (NSA) has temporarily shuttered the Baba Yara Sports Stadium until further notice.
This decision has been made to ensure the optimal condition of the pitch for the forthcoming match between Ghana and the Central African Republic, scheduled for next month.
The Black Stars are gearing up to face their counterparts from the Central African Republic in the final Group E match of the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON.
Emmanuel Appiah, the Ashanti Regional Director of the NSA, stated that no sporting activities, including football, will take place on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch until after the upcoming AFCON qualifier on September 7. He conveyed this information in an interview with Akoma FM.
“The Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch is closed for football and other sporting activities until Ghana VS Central African Republic game on September 7,” he said.
Ghana’s objective in the upcoming game against the Central African Republic is to secure at least a single point, which would guarantee their qualification for the 2023 AFCON.
Coach Chris Hughton has already commenced preparations for this crucial encounter and is set to announce his squad before the end of August.
