FC Barcelona has officially secured the signing of 18-year-old Ghanaian center-back Hafiz Gariba on a three-year deal, according to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti.
Gariba, who recently celebrated his 18th birthday, had long been on Barcelona’s radar. The club moved swiftly to finalize the signing as soon as he became eligible.
Known for his strong physical presence and defensive intelligence, Gariba honed his skills at Escuela Marcet, a prestigious football academy in Spain. His standout performances caught the attention of several top clubs, but Barcelona was able to secure his signature, fulfilling his dream of joining the renowned Catalan club.
Initially, Gariba will join Barcelona’s Juvenil B squad under the leadership of Pol Planas. However, with his rapid progress and immense potential, the club anticipates his quick development, with plans for him to eventually make the jump to Juliano Belletti’s Juvenil A team.
This acquisition underscores Barcelona’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and signals the club’s desire to strengthen its youth system with promising players. Should Gariba maintain his current form, he could soon be making his way toward Barcelona’s senior squad in the years ahead.
