Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation of highly rated defender Josh Acheampong as they consider a potential summer move for the English-Ghanaian talent.
According to CaughtOffside, the 20-year-old could push for an exit from Chelsea FC if he continues to struggle for consistent first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United are believed to be positioning themselves as a potential destination, with the club seen as able to offer a clearer pathway to regular senior football.
Acheampong has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, who are said to be closely monitoring his development. However, the Bundesliga giants have not yet made direct contact with Chelsea, underlining that the race for his signature remains in its early stages.
Despite the growing external interest, Chelsea are not currently open to selling the youngster, who is regarded as one of the club’s promising defensive prospects. Acheampong’s versatility—capable of operating both at centre-back and right-back—has contributed to his rising reputation across Europe.
The defender signed his first professional contract with Chelsea on January 3, 2024, shortly after turning 17, tying him to the club until 2026 at the time and highlighting the club’s long-term belief in his potential. He later made his senior debut on May 2, 2024, featuring in a 2-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
His current contract now runs until 2029, giving Chelsea a strong negotiating position. However, with increasing interest from top European clubs and the player’s desire for more regular minutes, his future is expected to be one to watch closely during the upcoming transfer window.
