‘Be yourself, don’t be shy and don’t give too much respect to the foreign based players’ – Sarfo Gyamfi tells Afriyie Barnieh

Ghana legend Sarfo Gyamfi has advised Accra Hearts of Oak SC striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to be confident when he meets the foreign based Black Stars players at camp.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC player sent a word of caution to Barnieh to not feel intimidated when he links up with the foreign players at the national team.

According to him, most of the domestic based players tend to give too much respect to their European based counterparts when they meet at the national team level.

He therefore gave Barnieh a word of encouragement and asked the player to be himself when he reports at camp for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Central Africa Republic

“I will appeal to the Coach (Otto Addo) to use Barnieh. He is a good striker like Prince Polley, who is good at heckling defenders. This kind of players make it easy for midfielders to go forward.

“Our local players give too much respect to foreign based players in Black Stars. I will advise Barnieh not to feel shy but he should train and play with seriousness to open more doors for other local players.” Via Kessben FM.
