Bechem United’s head coach, Seth Osei, has openly acknowledged the impact of losing key strikers on their performance in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The departure of Hafiz Konkoni, Augustine Okrah, and Emmanuel Avornyo has left a noticeable gap in the team’s lineup. Konkoni made a move to Young Africans in Tanzania before heading to Libya to play for Olympic Azzaweya on loan due to difficulty securing regular playing time. Augustine Okrah now represents Young Africans in Tanzania, while Emmanuel Avornyo recently signed with Macedonian First Football League side KF Shkupi.

Following a goalless draw against Asante Kotoko over the weekend at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Coach Osei openly admitted that the absence of their strikers has created a void in their attacking lineup.

In an interview with StarTimes, Osei stated, “Well yes, it’s only these players that we have with Hafiz Konkoni and Augustine Okrah gone, it is left with Annor and Cephas.” He emphasized the need to focus on the remaining players and work on improving their scoring abilities.

Bechem United currently occupies the 6th position on the table with 34 points earned from 23 matches played so far in the season. Looking ahead, they are set to face Great Olympics in the upcoming Matchday 25 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The team faces a significant challenge in adjusting to the absence of key players, especially in the attacking department. However, Coach Osei remains optimistic about the potential of the remaining squad members.

The departure of experienced strikers like Konkoni and Okrah undoubtedly leaves a void in Bechem United’s offensive lineup. However, it also presents an opportunity for other players to step up and showcase their abilities on the field.

With the support and guidance of Coach Osei, players like Annor and Cephas will be encouraged to rise to the occasion and contribute positively to the team’s performance.

As they prepare to take on Great Olympics in the upcoming match, Bechem United will be aiming to bounce back from their recent draw and secure a vital victory to bolster their position in the league standings.

The coaching staff will undoubtedly be working tirelessly to address the team’s shortcomings and ensure that they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Despite the setbacks caused by the departure of key players, Bechem United remains determined to compete at the highest level and continue making strides in the Ghana Premier League.

The upcoming match against Great Olympics presents an opportunity for the team to demonstrate their resilience and fighting spirit on the field.
