“Being unbeaten is important”- Hiram Boateng reacts to Mansfield Town win against Swindon Town

Mansfield Town midfielder Hiram Boateng has lauded Stags’ ‘togetherness and desire’ following a 4-2 Good Friday win at Swindon Town.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Stags in the summer of 2022, has made 33 appearances so far this term.

The former MK Dons man bagged his first goal in amber and blue this afternoon,  curling the ball beyond Sol Brynn in the 65th minute to make it 4-1.

Speaking on what worked so well for his side in Wiltshire, he said: “[Our] togetherness [and] desire [played a vital part in the win].

“The boys really put everything out there every week when they play.

“There’s real good leaders in the team that others can follow.

“It looks like we’re getting a good run of form going at the moment.

“Being unbeaten is important, as for momentum we’ll see where our form takes us.

“We all know if we win as many games as possible then we should be able to get in the play-offs.”

Mansfield found the back of Swindon’s net on four occasions in what was a fine watch for Stags’ travelling support in the first of two fixtures over the Easter weekend.

Assessing the game, Hiram said: “[It was] a very good performance I thought today. [It was] quite a convincing win. We got a bit sloppy in the section of the game that we conceded the second goal. All in all [we’re] delighted with the win.”

Boateng bagged Mansfield’s fourth goal of the afternoon with an expertly curled effort into the bottom corner.

Speaking on his first goal since joining last summer, Boateng said: “I knew they were going to dilly dally on the ball a little bit and I thought if I get a bit of pressure on here, I have a good chance of nicking the ball.

“I seen Davo (Davis Keillor-Dunn) making a run, but I thought I’m going to go myself here and I cut inside and put it in the far side.

“I’m delighted with the goal and obviously more delighted that we’ve got the win.”

The midfielder’s strike added to a momentous couple of weeks on a personal level following the birth of his first child.

“It’s been great, I’m loving it. The missus and the little one are doing well and that’s all I can ask for. If I keep doing my stuff on the pitch that’ll keep them happy.”
