Benin and Nigeria have jointly submitted a bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Currently, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is set to be hosted by Ivory Coast and the next batch of hosts are yet to be determined.
Both Nigeria and Benin football federations are yet to formally announce their intention to co-host the competition but it has been revealed by a different source.
“I am currently in Cairo and I have just officially submitted Algeria’s candidacy file for AFCON 2025.” Algerian Football Federation President Salah Bey Aboud disclosed this to a Radio station in Algeria.
“Nigeria and Benin have submitted a joint file in addition to the Moroccan file.” He added.
The closing date for submitting applications is set for this Friday, December 16, 2022.
South Africa, Senegal and Zambia are the other candidates to formalize their candidacy.
