Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is calling on the Ghana Football Association and Black Stars technical team to the include midfielder Bernard Mensah into the Black Stars team in the upcoming games.
After he felt vindicated with his incessant rants for the inclusion of former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC graduate Majeed Ashimeru, Gyan has now chanelled his energy into bringing the firmer Spain-based midfielder to the team.
In a surprising turn of events, Asamoah Gyan, the legendary Ghanaian footballer, has publicly voiced his desire to see Bernard Mensah make a comeback to the Black Stars. Gyan, known for his influential career with the national team, believes that Mensah’s skills and experience could greatly benefit the squad.
Mensah currently plays in the Suadi Arabia league for Al Taee and is undoubtedly the most important player in the team and one of the best midfielders in the league.
He retired from the national team due to lack of playing time but the Ghana legendary striker is advocating for the midfielder’s inclusion into the team.
Ghana won 1-0 against Madagascar in the opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday evening.
After Majeed Ashimeru’s introduction, the face of the game changed with the midfielder producing a glittering performance for the Stars which satisfied the Ghana all time top scorer.
Gyan wants the midfielder to be called again to play for Ghana as the Black Stars team prepares for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast next year.
