Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah made a notable impact in his debut for Al Riyadh during their thrilling 3-3 draw with Al-Wehda in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday evening.
Substituted in at the start of the second half, Mensah scored a header in the 51st minute and provided an assist, showcasing his influence on the match.
Al-Wehda initially took the lead in the 40th minute through Craig Goodwin, but Mensah’s goal quickly equalized the score. Despite Al Riyadh’s struggles with a man down following Hussain Al Nowaiqi’s red card in the 59th minute, they managed to draw level twice more, with Ibrahim Bayesh scoring in the 85th minute.
A late goal from Murad Khadhari for Al-Wehda ensured the points were shared. Although Al-Wehda dominated possession and shots, Al Riyadh’s resilience, highlighted by Mensah’s contributions, earned them a valuable point.
Al Riyadh will next face Al Kholood in the Saudi Pro League on August 29.
