  1. A week for the Emmanuels

7 Emmanuels: Emmanuel Obuobi (Aduana), Emmanuel Owusu (Bechem United), Emmanuel Owusu Boakye (Karela), Emmanuel Sarkodie(Nations FC), Emmanuel Agyeman (Nations FC), Emmanuel Mamah (Samartex) and Emmanuel Keyekeh (Samartex) all scored for their clubs.

One interesting fact is that they all scored at home. What a great game week for the Emmanuels!

  1. Martin Koopman’s boyish smile says it all

“I hope so I hope so”, beamed Koopman. “He has something from Romario, low on the ground, turns very fast, yeah! I like him a lot”, said Koopman.

He couldn’t control his joy and admiration for Hamza Issah. Hearts of Oak’s Dutch gaffer Martin Koopman was extremely excited for the win.

He had a great afternoon and his tactics were spot on. No wonder he laughed joyously during the post-match interview.

Augustin Adotey, coach of Medeama even congratulated him for his game plan that destroyed his side within 35 minutes.

  1. Samartex are the home kings

Samartex is third on the table after MD8.
Nsenkyire Sports Arena is their hearthstone, their stronghold and their heaven. They have played four games at home, and they have won all with +9 goals. Legon Cities is the latest victim to face Nurudeen Amadu’s side at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex. They were bruised and destroyed through Emmanuel Mama, Emmanuel Keyekeh and Ephson’s goals. Aduana, Bechem United and Dreams have all been beaten so far at Samartex

  1. Dreams FC must prepare well towards the CCC

Dreams FC will play against Club Africain, Academica and Rivers United in the Group C of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup. It will be a difficult group for Dreams looking at the kind of performance they have put up so far in the betPawa Premier League.

Still believe are now in the relegation zone having played 8 games. A defeat at home against Berekum Chelsea is a morale-killing performance.

Abdul Karim Zito has a tough job to revive his team. Dreams travel to Baba Yara Sports Stadium in MD9. Your guess is as good as mine.

  1. Nations FC records the biggest win margin of the season

An afternoon full of goals at Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex saw Nations FC massacred RTU. A brace of goals from Boateng Afriyie, one each from Emmanuel Sarkodie and Emmanuel Agyeman helped Nations FC record their best result in the Ghana Premier League.

It is also the biggest margin win in all the 70 games played so far.
Nations FC were languishing at the bottom of the table heading into MD7 but have now moved 3 places higher up the table. 15th on the log with a trip to Sunyani Coronation Park to face the wounded Tano Bofoakwa. What a happy week for Nations FC.

  1. Maxwell Konadu pips Prosper Nartey Ogum.

Two of the best managers in our league faced off today at Nana Kronmansah’s Park in Nsuatre. Ex-Kotoko player Maxwell Konadu emerged victorious against his beloved Kotoko. Nsuatreman is now on top of the league log for 3 consecutive times this season with a game in hand. Diyou Stephen’s 41st-minute strike was enough to ensure a victory for the home side.

  1. Ogya Boys have the bragging right in the Bono derby

A six-goal thriller at the Nana Agyeman Badu Stadium was the game of the day. It is the match that has produced many goals so far this season.

The first Bono derby between Aduana and Tano Bofoakwa ended in favour of the Ogya Boys who now has the bragging rights over their rivals. 4-2 is a scoreline that Aduana will be proud of.

  1. Accra Lions ends Heart of Lions’ unbeaten run

Newly promoted sides Heart of Lions and Tano Boafiakwa were the two unbeaten sides entering MD8 in the GPL. Bofo lost in the Bono derby on Wednesday while Accra Lions lost in the battle of the 2 lions in Accra on Thursday afternoon.

Heart of Lions is without a win and must win at all costs to not lose touch with the teams ahead of them.

They host the free-scoring Aduana Stars on Sunday.

  1. A week of goals

MD8 has produced the most goals so far this season. 5 different brace of goals from 5 players: Isaac Mintah, Emmanuel. Obuobi, Dauda Saak, Hamza Issah and Boateng Afriyie all scored a brace for their respective clubs. 28 goals were scored in 9 games. 14 goals (MD1), 17goals (MD2), 21 goals (MD3), 11 goals (MD4), 14 goals (MD5) * with two outstanding games, 23 goals (MD6), and 14 goals in (MD7).
