Asante Kotoko sprinter Emmanuel Gyamfi is the latest player to join the club’s injury list after Richard Senanu and Maxwell Baakoh ahead Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup crucial match against Sudanese side Al Hilal.
According to head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor, the 22-year-old winger’s availability for the must-win clash is hugely in doubt and that he has already starting for his replacement.
The former Wa All Stars winger suffered an injury while playing in Sunday’s match against Zambian side Nkana FC after scoring Kotoko’s second goal in their 3-0 emphatic victory.
He was replaced by Kwame Boahene Boahene in the 23rd minute.
“I will get the report [on Emmanuel Gyamfi’s injury] from the medical team tomorrow…But it doesn’t look good” Coach Akonnor told OTEC FM
“He will not be available for Al Hilal. I have other players to replace him in our next game against the Sudanese side”
Asante Kotoko will be hosting Al Hilal of Sudan in the match-day five of the CAF Confederation Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Ghanaian giants lost 1-0 to the Sudanese side in the first leg and will be hoping to massively beat them to keep their chances of qualification to the 2018/2019 Caf inter-clubs competition semis alive.
Gyamfi has scored three (3) goals in his eight appearances for Asante Kotoko in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign so far.
