According to Bismark Kobi Mensah, the head coach of Accra Great Olympics, there should be a policy in place that requires the Black Stars coach to select some players from the domestic league.
This comes after Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton, did not include any domestic based players in his twenty-five man squad to face Angola at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on March 23rd. Some football commentators have called on Hughton to explain his decision.
Mensah stated in an interview with Peace FM, that a policy should be created to ensure that at least one percent of Black Stars call-ups are from the local league.
This policy, according the former Karela United gaffer would require coaches to factor in local talent when selecting their squads, in addition to players they believe will help the team.
“And they also ask me about which of the players do I think he can play but before then I even said that they should make it a policy that if they will call Black Stars players at least one percent of the call ups should come from the local league”
