Nora Hauptle, who is the head coach of the senior women’s national team, feels Ghana will face a difficult road to qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Black Queens have never appeared in the games since their inception, and the current crop of players are motivated to make history in the next edition, which will be held in Paris.
They would have to do it the hard way, however, since if they overcome the obstacle of defeating Guinea, they might face two of Africa’s representatives at the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
In an interview with the press ahead of Friday’s first-leg match against Guinea, Hauptle acknowledged the difficulties of the obstacles ahead but feels there is still hope.
“When you look at the draw, I think the first steps are very makeable,” she said.
“Somehow, we are going to face Zambia and Morocco. They are part of the World Cup which is beginning in two weeks.
“So, it will not be an easy route but am pretty convinced with the quality of players we have and a lot of matches, we have the chance to qualify.”
