Ghana’s Black Queens have secured an emphatic 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius to advance in the African qualifiers for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, following a commanding 7-0 win in the second leg.

The Ghanaian women’s national team delivered a dominant performance in the return encounter, scoring seven unanswered goals to complete a convincing two-legged victory and strengthen their hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games.

The result followed Ghana’s 3-0 victory in the first leg in Mauritius, where Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi and Benedicte Simon scored to give the Black Queens a comfortable advantage heading into the return fixture.

With a three-goal cushion from the opening encounter, Ghana returned for the second leg determined to finish the job and progress to the next stage of the qualifying competition. The team ultimately went beyond its first-leg achievement, adding seven more goals to complete the tie with an aggregate score of 10-0.

The emphatic victory represents a significant step in Ghana’s campaign to secure a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States. The Black Queens are seeking to navigate the demanding African qualifying process and earn the opportunity to represent Ghana on the global stage.

Ghana’s performance across the two legs highlighted the team’s ability to create a substantial advantage and convert it into a convincing aggregate result. After establishing control with the 3-0 win away from home, the Black Queens maintained their attacking intent in the return encounter, scoring seven times without conceding.

The 7-0 result also ensured that Mauritius could not mount a comeback in the tie, as Ghana finished the contest with ten goals scored across the two matches and a clean sheet in both encounters.

For the Black Queens, progressing through the qualifying rounds will require continued consistency, concentration and effective teamwork. The technical team will now look to build on the positive result as Ghana prepares for the challenges that lie ahead in the race for Olympic qualification.

The victory moves Ghana’s Olympic qualifying campaign forward, but the ultimate objective remains securing a place at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

The African qualifiers provide a challenging route to the tournament, with the Black Queens needing to maintain their form against increasingly difficult opposition as the competition progresses.

Ghana will therefore be keen to use the emphatic victory over Mauritius as a foundation for the next stage, while continuing to improve its performance and prepare for tougher tests.

The 10-0 aggregate triumph gives the team a strong result to build on, but the Black Queens will remain focused on the bigger objective of earning Olympic qualification rather than allowing the victory to distract them from the work still required.
