The Black Satellites of Ghana have returned home following their participation in the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2025. The team bowed out at the quarterfinal stage after a thrilling encounter with host nation Egypt, which ended 4-5 in a penalty shootout.

Despite the narrow loss, the Satellites earned praise for displaying a beautiful and spirited brand of Ghanaian football throughout the tournament, sustaining hope in the nation’s youth football setup.

Speaking upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Head Coach Desmond Ofei expressed pride in the team’s performance. “I want to thank the players for their dedication and commitment throughout the competition,” he said. “They gave their all and represented Ghana with heart. I also appreciate the hard work of my technical team and the immense support from management.”

The leader of delegation and Chairman of the Black Satellites Management Committee, Alhaji Abu Hassan ‘Rhyzo’, also commended the players and technical team for their spirited showing. “The boys played their hearts out and made us proud. Although we didn’t go all the way, the performance showed promise for the future. We wish all of them the very best in their careers moving forward,” he remarked.

The Black Satellites are expected to regroup in the coming days as preparations begin for future assignments, building on the positives from their AFCON campaign.
