Black Starlets coach Laryea Kingston is urging Ghanaians to relish the team’s remarkable 5-1 victory over Ivory Coast in their debut match of the WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations.
Joseph Narbi (2), Godfred Sarpong, Harve Gbafa, and Mark Kagawa Mensah were the heroes, securing a resounding win for the Ghana U17 side.
In a post-match interview, Coach Kingston acknowledged the formidable challenge presented by the Ivorian team, underscoring their quality. Despite the comprehensive triumph, he didn’t shy away from highlighting the obstacles encountered during the game.
“It’s a joy. We have to enjoy. It wasn’t an easy game. The Ivorians are not an easy side. They made it difficult for us. We found it difficult to keep the game because of the way they play. I’m excited. Now Ghanaians have to have fun because it’s a good win against a good side,” remarked Coach Laryea Kingston.
Buoyed by this victory, the Black Starlets will now turn their attention to the next challenge, facing Benin in the WAFU B U17 Cup of Nations tournament.
The win signifies Ghana’s promising trajectory in their endeavor to reclaim a spot in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2017.
