Ghana’s U17 team, the Black Starlets, suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in their second Group A match at the WAFU B U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Tuesday evening.
Ivory Coast took the lead in the 18th minute through Robinho Gavi Yao and tightened their grip after the break with two more goals to seal an emphatic victory at the Stade Konan Banny.
The result leaves Ivory Coast at the top of Group A with six points, while Ghana, who opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Togo, must now beat Niger in their final group match to keep hopes of advancing alive.
