Nottingham Forest secured a 4-3 win against Southampton at the City Ground on Monday night, which was watched by Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng.
Both teams were in desperate need of a win to keep their hopes of staying alive in the Premier League alive. Forest took a 3-1 lead in the first half, thanks to Taiwo Awoniyi’s early brace and a penalty from Morgan Gibbs-White.
Kamaldeen Sulemana, who joined Southampton, was introduced in the second half. Although James Ward-Prowse scored a late penalty, Forest held on to secure the victory.
The Black Stars, whose captain is Andre Ayew, will play Madagascar and the Central African Republic next month in their final two games of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
