Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana is committed to securing victory when they face Colombia in Friday’s FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash at Kansas City Stadium.
Speaking at the official pre-match press conference on Thursday, Queiroz described the knockout tie as an important game for both teams and promised fans an entertaining contest between two fantastic teams with different styles.
“With both teams committed to winning the game, creating entertainment, and for sure, both teams trying to bring the best results home,” Queiroz said. “I hope with the right inspiration and the right attitude, we’ll be able to be a better team on the pitch tomorrow.” Queiroz said.
He stressed that the Black Stars’ focus is firmly on delivering for their supporters. “Of course, get the result that our fans expect from us. With all due respect to Colombia, of course. But this is our commitment for tomorrow,” he added.
Ghana arrived in Kansas City on Wednesday evening from Providence, where they stayed for their three Group L matches against Panama, England, and Croatia. The team held its final training session at Sporting Kansas Stadium on Thursday morning, with all 25 available players taking part.
Friday’s match kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Kansas City Stadium. The winner will advance to the Round of 16 to face the winner of Switzerland vs Algeria.
Victory would see Ghana reach the last 16 of the World Cup for the first time since South Africa 2010.
