Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has opened up on the absence of key forwards Inaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante ahead of Ghana’s international friendly.

Both players are currently sidelined through injury, forcing changes in the squad. Despite this setback, Addo remains calm and encouraged by the options available to him.

“If somebody gets injured, it’s not always a good situation. I think Inaki was in good form, and Brandon came back from his injury. Before that, he also scored a lot of goals. So, yeah, I’m really sorry for them. But it will also be a good opportunity for others to show themselves. I’m very, very happy that the team seems to be in good shape,” he said at the pre-match press conference.

“Ransford Königsdörffer will replace them, and he’s been good. I think we have to focus on what is ahead of us. There’s no time, and there’s no need to look behind at who could be here and who is not. A lot of other players are also injured, and I hope that everybody will be ready, at least, for the World Cup,” he said.

Ghana will face Austria on Friday at 17:00 GMT at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.
