Ghanaian player Gideon Mensah has earned a spot in Sofascore’s French Ligue 2 Team of the Week due to his exceptional performance against Annecy.
Mensah played a key role by providing an assist when his club, AJ Auxerre, secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Annecy FC in the eighth round of the French Ligue Two on Tuesday.
This assist, which took place at the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps, marked the left-back’s first of the season.
AJ Auxerre took the lead 21 minutes into the game when Thomas Callens scored an own goal.
Gideon Mensah, the Ghanaian left-back, then set up Florian Aye in the 29th minute, doubling the home side’s lead and making a comeback for Annecy unlikely.
Elisha Owusu, Mensah’s compatriot, was substituted after 75 minutes, with Assane Diousse coming on in his place.
In the 85th minute, Gaetan Perrin extended AJ Auxerre’s lead to 3-0 with an assist from Gauthier Hein.
Rayan Ravelosen sealed the match with a fourth goal in the 87th minute, also assisted by Gauthier Hein.
Following this victory, AJ Auxerre currently holds the third position on the French Ligue 2 table with 15 points from eight matches, while Annecy sits in 11th place with 10 points.
