Nicholas Opoku paid tribute to the late Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena after Ghana’s victorious 2026 World Cup qualifiers match against Madagascar.

The Amiens center back, who played the full 90 minutes, wore custom innerwear adorned with pictures of Dwamena and the caption “RIP Raphael Dwamena.”

Dwamena, who battled a heart condition since 2017, tragically passed away after collapsing on the pitch during an Albanian league match. Opoku’s gesture honored his memory.

The Black Stars, led by Chris Hughton, aim to maintain their winning streak in the World Cup qualifiers against Comoros on Tuesday, November 21, in Moroni.
