Barely 48 days to the African Cup of Nations, two of Ghana’s most reliable shot-stoppers are warming the bench for their respective clubs.
Assistant Captain of the Black Stars, Richard Ofori has been a regular absentee for Orlando Pirates since his return from injury. The Former Wa All Star player’s involvement for his club came in July during a pre-season friendly against Las Pamas. The only respite for the goalkeeper in recent times has been a selection for the double header when the Black stars engaged Madagascar and Comoros in the World Cup qualifier.
Joe Wollacoot who plays for Scottish side Hibernian has also been absent from club duties, his last game was in a 2-2 all drawn game against Ross Country in October. The ex-Charlton player has endured a torrid time to recapture his slot after recovering from injury with Scottish International goalkeeper David Marshall preferred in post.
The inactive roles of both goal keepers will ultimately be a bane for Chris Hughton and Richard Kinston as the Black Stars will need to be in full shape in their quest to win the next AFCON.
