Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, says the senior national team should be given to someone who will be bold enough to make decisions and not one who will be dictated to.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are on a search for a new head coach following the resignation of Otto Addo at the end of Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.
With the manipulation of coaches a thing that has been speculated in the country with regard to the national team, Gyan has listed the features that the next coach of the Black Stars must possess.
“We need an experienced coach, someone with strong credentials…Even if he is an inexperienced coach we should be able to identify what the coach has taught the players in terms of their style of play,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah on YouTube.
“You can take an inexperienced coach but make sure he understands the game, someone who will make the people understand his philosophy,” he added.
“Someone who can take charge, not someone who takes orders, you have to be strict and take charge of what you are doing,” Gyan added.
A host of coaches have been linked with the vacant job including former technical advisor of the team, Chris Hughton while James Kwasi Appiah has confirmed to applying for the job as well.
