Otto Addo, a former head coach of Ghana, claims that the Black Stars, despite giving it their all, were unfortunate not to advance from the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage.
After losing to Uruguay in their final group game on Friday, December 2, Ghana was eliminated early from the championship match on Friday.
Otto Addo’s tenure as the Ghanaian coach came to an end with the Black Stars’ elimination, when he announced his retirement during his post-game press conference following the defeat.
The 48-year-old thanked the players for their efforts during the World Cup while addressing the media during a conference to explain his resignation and bid farewell.
“I’m very proud of the boys. They gave their all. Sometimes it’s bad luck, this is also part of football — the ugly side of football. Sometimes you’re lucky other times you’re not lucky,” he said.
“But they did all they could and sometimes it’s not in their hands.”
