Christopher Bonsu Baah delivered a lively performance on his full debut for the Black Stars as Ghana fell 2-1 to Nigeria in the semi-finals of the 2025 Unity Cup on Wednesday evening.

The 20-year-old winger, who plays his club football with Genk in Belgium, was given the nod to start by head coach Otto Addo at the GTech Community Stadium in Brentford. It was just his second call-up to the senior national team.

Lining up in a forward three with Jordan Ayew and Kwame Opoku, Bonsu Baah played the entire 90 minutes and showed promise throughout. Although Ghana conceded twice in the first half, the young winger remained one of the team’s brightest sparks, often troubling the Nigerian backline with his speed, footwork, and attacking runs.

In the second half, he was involved in the build-up that led to Brandon Thomas-Asante pulling a goal back in the 70th minute. Shortly afterward, Bonsu Baah sent in a dangerous cross from the right flank, which nearly found Ayew at the back post but lacked the final touch.

As Ghana searched for a late equaliser, Bonsu Baah was replaced by Mohammed Fuseini in the final minutes of the match.

He will be aiming to build on this performance when Ghana take on Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place match on Saturday.
