Brandon Thomas-Asante: FIVE important things to know about the new Black Stars striker

“Everyone at West Bromwich Albion would like to congratulate Brandon and the club wishes him all the very best of luck during his time away on international duty,” wrote West Bromwich Albion in a good luck message to the 25-year-old Brandon Thomas-Asante.

The striker received his first-ever call-up for Ghana on Wednesday when Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo announced his squad.

Check out the FIVE important things to know about the West Bromwich striker.

1. Brandon Thomas-Asante is half Jamaican

The name Asante simply explains that he is of Ghanaian descent. The is 25-year-old is half Ghanaian and half Jamaican. Thomas Asante has a Jamaican mother and a Ghanaian father. He was born in Milton Keynes in the UK on 29th December 1998. He was eligible to play for England and Jamaica as well.

2. Brandon Thomas-Asante started his football at the Milton Keynes Academy

Asante joined MK Dons’ academy at age 12 and enjoyed proper nurturing through the academy and made his debut in 2016 at age 17. Asante won the MK Dons’ Academy Player of the Year award in the 2016/17 season after making 12 senior appearances across all competitions at a very young age.

3. West Bromwich Albion is  Thomas Asante’s 6th club

He’s only 25 but has already played for 6 clubs. In his senior career, He spent 3 years with MK Dons, his boyhood club. Asante enjoyed two loan spells with Sutton United and Oxford City while at MK Dons. He joined Ebbsfleet United before moving to Salford. Brandon Thomas-Asante finally signed for West Bromwich Albion in 2022. Will he be a much-travelled man in football?

4. Asante has won twice as the top scorer of West Bromwich Albion

Asante scored 11 goals and provided 2 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions in the 2023-24 season. In the 2022-23 season, Asante scored 8 goals in all competitions to win WBA’s top scorer. He has been the main source for goals for West Bromwich Albion in the last two seasons.

5 Thomas-Asante Brandon was once a dancer and a musician

Asante used to perform as a solo artist in his spare time and used to be a street dancer with a street dance group. Imagine Asante behind the microphone or on the dance floor!
