Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered a standout performance as Coventry City secured a historic 2-0 victory over Swansea City at the Swansea.com Stadium, marking their first-ever win against the Welsh side.
The Sky Blues opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Ellis Simms, who calmly converted from close range after an assist from Thomas-Asante. The Ghanaian winger’s clever play set the tone for Coventry’s efficient attack.
Despite dominating possession, Swansea struggled to break down Coventry’s well-organized defense. Their inability to create clear chances proved costly, as Thomas-Asante struck again just before halftime. Picking up the ball outside the box, he unleashed a spectacular right-footed shot into the top corner, leaving the Swansea goalkeeper with no chance.
Swansea pushed for a response in the second half but failed to threaten, managing just six attempts without testing the Coventry goalkeeper. In contrast, Coventry made the most of their limited chances, showcasing clinical finishing to secure all three points.
Thomas-Asante’s goal and assist bring his season tally to four goals and two assists in 29 Championship appearances. Coventry now sit 11th on the table with 41 points and will look to build on this victory when they host Leeds United on February 5 at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
