Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante was on the scoresheet as Coventry City secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in Round 8 of the Championship at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Tuesday.
Coventry took an early lead when Jake Bidwell netted the opening goal in the 11th minute, following a precise assist from Jack Rudoni. The home side continued to apply pressure, and Haji Wright doubled their advantage just after halftime, scoring in the 48th minute.
Thomas-Asante, who played 86 minutes, rounded off the dominant performance by scoring Coventry’s third goal in the 84th minute, assisted by Josh Eccles. The victory came despite Blackburn enjoying more possession (55%), as Coventry proved more clinical in front of goal.
This result improved Coventry’s head-to-head record against Blackburn to three wins in their last 10 encounters. Coventry now prepares to face Sheffield Wednesday in their next Championship fixture on October 3rd.
