The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated GHALCA Top 4 competition for this year.
The tournament, initially scheduled to start on August 6, had to be called off due to a lack of sufficient sponsorship.
Despite efforts to secure financial backing and previously announcing SuperSport as the main broadcast partner, the organizers faced challenges in securing enough sponsorship to proceed with the event. As a result, GHALCA confirmed that circumstances beyond their control led to the cancellation of the tournament.
The GHALCA Top 4 competition is a popular pre-season event that typically features the top four clubs from the previous campaign.
This year’s edition was expected to include Ghanaian champions Medeama, Aduana Stars, Bechem United, and Bibiani GoldStars who had replaced Asante Kotoko.
The cancellation of the tournament is a disappointment for both fans and clubs, as it serves as an exciting precursor to the new football season in Ghana.
The hope is that in the future, the GHALCA Top 4 competition will receive the necessary support and sponsorship to resume, continuing its tradition of showcasing thrilling matches and promoting the talents of Ghanaian football clubs.
