The Black Princesses of Ghana posted 2-1 win against Ethiopia on Sunday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium to book qualification to the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup which will be held in Costa Rica.
Ghana will be making its sixth consecutive appearance at the biennial competition.
The Ghanaian team the Ethiopia team 5-1 aggregate in the final double header of the qualifier.
Having recorded a 0:3 win in Addis Ababa a fortnight ago, Coach Ben Fokuo and his charges won the return encounter to become one of the African countries to book qualification to the World Cup which comes off in August this year.
The Black Princesses took the lead after just two minutes in the game when Salamatu Abdulai produced a great run to put the ball at the back of the net.
In the 25th minute, Cecilia Nyama made beautiful pass to Salamatu Abdulai to extend the lead for the Princesses but Ethiopia pulled one back four minutes later.
Coach Ben Fokuo had to make his first substitution after recess in the 46th minute when Rahama Jafaru replaced Doris Boaduwaa.
In the 55th minute, Cecilia Nyama made way for Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah as the team pushed for its third goal.
Ghana had a numerical disadvantage in the 86th minute when Goalkeeper Cynthia Fiindib Konlan was shown the exit for a bad tackle on one Ethiopia player who was chasing her side’s second goal to draw the game.
