CONAKRY – Guinea Football Association has officially reacted to the decision of the Confederation of African football to stage a one-off contest in Accra regarding the Champions League match between CI Kamsar and Hearts of Oak.
According to the Guinea FA the CAF decision is harsh and unfair.
This is a misunderstood and illogical decision in the eyes of the three Guinea clubs involved in the CAF Interclub competitions this season.
On Wednesday, the Competitions Organizing Committee of CAF announced that Wakriya AC, CI Kamsar ( Hearts of Oak’s opponent) and Siguiri’s Ashanty Golden will play their matches away and in one match.
CAF raised security reasons in the Francophone country to justify its decision, a few days after the coup d’état in Guinea.
For the clubs and the Guinean Football Federation, this decision is vigorously contested, which is deemed unfair, especially as things have now returned to calm in the country.
“As soon as we received this notification, we decided to respond. For us, this decision is unfair today. As long as there is nothing serious in Guinea. Everything is back to normal here. This is why we sent an email to challenge this decision. CAF can even send a delegate to Conakry to come and see the realities here. We hope that with our reasons given, CAF will make the right decision, ”explains a source closer to the Guinea FA.
The Guinean Football Federation has officially reacted to this decision of CAF.
Meanwhile Hearts of Oak are still preparing to host their Guinean counterparts in Accra as the CAF decision is not reversed as at now.
