Nations FC pulled off a thrilling comeback victory over WAFA in a Division One League match, securing their promotion to the Ghanaian top-flight league.
In a highly anticipated clash at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, Kumasi-based Nations FC sealed their place in the Ghana Premier League with a dramatic 3-2 win over West African Football Academy SC.
WAFA struck first, with Razak Simpson finding the back of the net early on. However, Nations FC quickly responded, as hat-trick hero Abubakari Gariba converted a penalty in the 10th minute to level the score.
In the second half, WAFA regained the lead through former Ghana U17 star Emmanuel Agyemang Duah in the 58th minute, after dominating the early stages of the period.
Undeterred, Gariba once again came to the rescue for Nations FC, scoring the equalizer in the 68th minute. And in a stunning climax to the match, Gariba completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the 96th minute, securing a memorable victory for his team.
With the 3-2 triumph over WAFA, Nations FC clinched the top spot in Division One League zone two and earned qualification for the Ghana Premier League next season, with two games remaining in the 2022/23 season.
