French Ligue 1 club Brest has expressed strong interest in signing Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed as they look to reinforce their midfield before the transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Lens in 2022, recently faced a major setback after being dropped from the first-team squad along with teammate Stijn Spierings. This decision by Lens head coach Will Still, who is seeking to streamline the squad, has placed Salis on the transfer list.
Salis, a vital member of the Ghanaian national team, played a key role in Lens’ impressive campaign two seasons ago, which saw them secure UEFA Champions League qualification. However, his recent exclusion has cast uncertainty over his future at the club.
Brest has emerged as a leading contender to secure Salis on loan, having initiated contact with Lens to discuss a potential deal. Earlier in the transfer window, both Montpellier and Saint-Etienne had shown interest in the midfielder, but they have since ended their pursuit.
As the transfer window draws to a close, Brest is keen to finalize the deal for Salis, hoping to provide him with an opportunity to regain regular playing time in Ligue 1. A move to Brest could reignite his career and offer the club a significant boost in their midfield strength.
