Dutch internationals of Ghanaian descent, Brian Brobbey and Jeremie Frimpong, have been named in the final Netherlands squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
The duo earned their spots in the squad after stellar seasons with their respective clubs. Brobbey, who plays for Ajax, has yet to make an appearance for the Netherlands, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Frimpong has two caps.
Both players reported to the national camp last weekend following the conclusion of their European seasons.
Brobbey was a standout performer in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 18 goals in 30 matches for Ajax.
Frimpong, a right-back, made significant contributions to Bayer Leverkusen’s successful season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists. His efforts helped his team secure both the Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal.
Despite their inclusion in the Dutch squad, both players remain eligible to represent the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, due to recent changes in FIFA’s nationality switch rules.
