Dutch striker of Ghanaian descent Brian Brobbey hailed Sunderland’s fighting spirit after his decisive winner against Bournemouth, praising the supporters’ influence and the team’s resilient Premier League comeback.
The Dutch striker came off the bench to make a decisive impact once again, mirroring his contribution against Arsenal at the Stadium of Light three weeks earlier.
Having struck a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser against the Gunners, Brobbey then secured all three points on Saturday, rising to head home Enzo Le Fée’s pinpoint corner from the left.
His goal completed an incredible turnaround on Wearside, marking the first time the Club have overturned a two-goal deficit to win in the Premier League era.
The 23-year-old has now produced three goal involvements in eight appearances from the substitutes’ bench.
“It is a good feeling after we went down and then came back up,” he said.
“Everybody did well in the second half and we can be proud of ourselves.
“We always keep fighting for each other until the very end. That is what we did on Saturday.
“Scoring on Saturday was an even better feeling that than the one against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago.
“To score the winning goal is an amazing feeling – I am very happy,” he continued.
“The fans are like a tower of men. They are really behind you and they give you a lot of confidence to show what you’re made of.
“We just need to keep going like this. We needed these points and now we take it game by game.”
