Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Tariq Lamptey will be unavailable for their Premier League opener against Everton this weekend.
The Seagulls are set to face Sean Dyche’s side at Goodison Park on Saturday. Speaking to the club’s website ahead of the match, Hurzeler revealed that Lamptey, along with Pervis Estupiñán and Evan Ferguson, has returned to training but will not be ready in time for the opening fixture.
“It’s great news that they’re back, but I’m not sure if they’re ready for the first match,” Hurzeler, who previously coached at FC St. Pauli, stated.
Lamptey, who struggled with injuries last season under former manager Roberto De Zerbi, is expected to play a crucial role for Hurzeler this season.
The Ghana international made 19 Premier League appearances last campaign and is anticipated to be fully fit for Ghana’s opening two matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger next month.
