Cameroon coach Hugo Broos has expressed disappointment over the atmosphere at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, saying it lacks the traditional energy he experienced in previous tournaments.
Speaking about the differences, Broos noted that unlike his time at Afcons in Ivory Coast and Gabon, where fans were visibly involved and supportive at every moment, the current tournament feels subdued. He highlighted the absence of crowd engagement, flag-waving supporters, and the usual vibrancy outside stadiums and during team travel.
Broos described the facilities as adequate, acknowledging that the stadiums and game organization are fine, but stressed that the “typical AFCON vibe” — the excitement and passion from fans — is missing.
The Cameroonian coach’s remarks come as teams and fans adjust to the environment in Morocco, with attention now turning to the knockout stages of the tournament.
