2013 AFCON winner, Brown Ideye, 35, has shared his opinion on the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s chances of the 2023 AFCON.

The Al-Yarmouk forward expressed delight in the good players available to Jose Peseiro for the AFCON.

“We have good players in camp, but we don’t have a team. We are still building a team because we don’t have a team that can win the AFCON,” said Ideye.

The former Dynamo Kiev and West Bromwich Albion striker expressed his doubt about Nigeria winning their 4th AFCON title under Jose Peseiro in Ivory Coast.

“I don’t see this present Eagles winning this AFCON; it’s not possible. We are not ready; we don’t have what it takes.”

Brown Ideye who started in attack in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Burkina Faso at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in the 2013 AFCON alongside Ikechukwu Uche and Victor Moses under Stephen Keshi urged the current Super Eagles boys to seek help from Kenneth Omeruo and Ahmed Musah who all played in the finals.

“They should all gather in the room of Ahmed Musa and discuss with him and Kenneth Omeruo. They need Musa and Omeruo to tell them how we conquered Africa in 2013.

“The discipline, the sacrifices, and how we fought and tasked ourselves when everyone had given up”, Ideye concluded.

Nigeria received bad news yesterday as striker Umar Sadick was confirmed to miss the AFCON. Already, the Super Eagles are missing Ndidi, Boniface and Awoniyi.
