The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted Category 2 Stadium Approval to Medeama SC’s TnA Stadium following a successful technical inspection, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
The certification allows the venue to host CAF Youth and Women’s national team qualifiers, as well as preliminary-round matches in CAF interclub competitions, subject to final competition approval.
CAF has, however, instructed the stadium management to address a few minor issues, including adjusting the seating capacity by removing seats with obstructed views and implementing recommendations outlined in its inspection report before the next continental fixture.
The approval is seen as a major milestone for Ghanaian football infrastructure, with the GFA, Medeama SC and the stadium management pledging to complete all outstanding requirements within the stipulated timeframe.
CAF will also conduct a live operational assessment during a future match before making a final decision on the stadium’s eligibility to host additional CAF and FIFA competitions.
